ludovic llorca aka art of tones is a composer who spent his youth in the north of france, learning music-making with computers (commodore 64 and amiga). after releasing a couple of techno/house 12 inches on small labels, he signed an artist contract (using his family name as a moniker) with french label f-communications on 1997, releasing three eps, followed by a lp (newcomer) on 2001. the albums huge success (more than 170.000 copies sold) leads him to stages around the world, touring for more than 3 years with musicians and singers, performing live in famous festivals (montreux, nice, vienne, den haag, les vieilles charrues) and in prestigious venues.

perseus traxx is no stranger to the legion of underground warriors who place quality above quantity, having released on bunker, m/o/s, photic fields, boe recordings, boomchik, chiwax, sequencias, and future flash to name a few, as well as being one half of nite vision with the man behind mantra/myriadd.the muses are the nine goddesses who promote literature, science and the arts, the personifications of inspiration. though only named and assigned characteristics as recently as the roman era, they were revered by the ancient greeks, who documented that them as having been recruited by the egyptian god osiris as he passed through ethiopia prior to embarking on a tour of asia and europe to teach the arts of cultivation to mankind. itís with this in mind that perseus traxx, makes his first release on newcastleís flight recorder label, delivering an ode to four of them directly rather than the forms they have inhabited while they visit him. bubbling and cutting, heavy synths and dusty tones are jammed out live to tape, ranging from the playful to the stark as they characterise the appropriately named tracks. an ordered tangle of wires and patching in a unique set of acid-free sonic experiments, that sometimes feel as cold and edgy, as they do warm and carefree.

chicagos sean smith and tim mcalister (aka mc edits) team up. funky disco music is a housey rework of a rare african disco jam. universal love is a rework of an early 80s disco cut with a catchy chorus love our neighbor and k-passa reworks the live version of a disco classic. old tracks made modern sounding and new.

gravetemple was formed in 2006 as a side-project of the band sunn o))) by oren ambarchi, stephen o malley and attila csihar. the group formed initially to tour in israel summer 06, creating several recordings which eventually became the holy down album, which was released on southern lord recordings in 2007. at the time of the israel tour, the lebanon war started and was in action. in summer 08 the trio reformed together with the addition of australian drummer matt skitz sanders for a short european tour culminating at a headlining performance at supersonic festival in birmingham. in late 2009 the original trio reconvened for a special one-off concert at londons institute of contemporary arts. april 2013 marks the first set of live action since that period, and a new chapter in the ongoing system of the related network.
ambient/ruin was created with the 2008 quartet, elements of tape collage, concrete, field recordings blend within a strong geographically diverse (parts were recorded in japan, australia, paris and israel) suite of heavy minimalist/maximalist music, black/death metal and drone. the culmination of these efforts become the music, literally, of sadistik exekution meeting phill niblock.

the third release on orre is a mini-album recorded live by nate wooley (on trumpet and amplifier), daniele martini (on tenor sax), giovanni di domenico (on fender rhodes and electronics), hugo antunes (on double bass) and chris corsano (on drums) in les ateliers claus in brussels on may 27, 2012. this improvisation is essentially a free jazz exploration that uses an abstracted, almost classical jazz template

revivra is back on gamm with two seriously well produced re-edits (or remixes?) on the soulful boogie tip. just like last time this is just not some quick 5 min fixes but hand crafted reworks that takes the original tracks to the next level with loads of added live elements. the a-sides take on midways set it out is so good it almost makes the original sounds like the remix. with a beautiful live string intro it explodes into a proper boogie winner that easily could have been produced by any of the big producers from late 70s. on the flip revivra goes back to his deep love for marvin with +11 min excursion of mercy mercy me. epic is an understatement!

what do you do when a live project exceeds its own ambitions? just keep doing the wonderful concerts and eventually head to the studio. sounds simple and conclusive. in the case of karocel, that was exactly how they went about it and surprisingly, all six band members made it happen. though the four marbert rocels, mathias kaden and michael-mitchi-nagler have known each other from their hometown along the gera-jena-erfurt corridor, and the karocel live shows have been well received: an album is an entirely different beast.
